iPhone 3G downgrade

author Posted by: George on date Aug 2nd, 2010 | filed Filed under: iPhone / iPod Touch

Yes when the new operating system for the iPhone came out I wanted it even though I have an iPhone 3G.
folders that was what I thought something I needed and the update of mail was something I also excited about.

But after I got IOS 4 my phone got so slow that I regretted using it at all. I use notes a lot for work and that was so slow that I started to use paper again.

But then I found this little Youtube video:

and so I decided to give it a try.

First I would say if you want to do this yourself of course look at the video but also read this article at Lifehacker.

The downgrade is pretty simple and go’s a lot quicker then upgrading to IOS 4.

After the downgrade I of course was unlucky and didn’t have a backup of my old stuff in os version 3.1.x any more so my apps where all empty but I expected that so I made sure I copied what I needed before I tried to install anything.

I would say if you iPhone 3G is so slow that you like to trow it agains the wall then go try this yourself. I was ready to buy and iPhone 4 before I did the downgrade but my phone provider charged to much so this works for me right now.

Be aware that you will soon not be able to download lots of new apps any more because most of them are getting ready for IOS 4.

Chrome Dual Color Hardcase for iPhone 3G / s

author Posted by: George on date Nov 13th, 2009 | filed Filed under: iPhone / iPod Touch

As you may have figured out by now I have an iPhone and I love my iPhone but some times it starts to look boring and then I want to give it a nicer look.

And because I like to change I don’t like to spend to much on my cases.

Lucky for me my friends at Budgetgadgets.com have a great assortment of great looking cases.

This time I got this Chrome Dual Color Hardcase in Silver and that all for a price that is under the $3 dollars and that include free worldwide shipping.

The case is comes in two parts the chrome part whitch you should put on first and then the black part witch click in place over the Chrome cover. It all makes a strong case witch does not move and nicely protect your iPhone.

The case fits nice just over the front corners so that it almost looks like it one with the phone. This of course will have as result that some dust will hang under the corner but you can still remove the case and clean it.

Let me tell you this case is great and will be on my phone for a while or till I see something else I really like.

Go check out this case in Silver, Gold and Peachblow at Budgetgadgets.com and it is cheap and ships for free.

SmartTalk iPhone Headphone/Mic Adapter

author Posted by: George on date Oct 20th, 2009 | filed Filed under: Cables, iPhone / iPod Touch, Music, VOIP / Phones

If you like me have ears that are not Apple compatible then you know how difficult it can be to try to use there headphones with build in microphone. For me the Apple headphones just don’t fit and for that reason I still use the ancient Sony once I got with my portable CD player a long long long time ago.

But I would like to use the mic so that I don’t have to hold my iPhone when I am trying to work.

So now there is a solution for that, SmartTalk offers a little cable that you can stick between you iPhone (or other device) and your favorite headphones and by doing so you add a iPhone compatible microphone to your good old headphones.

And that is not all the SmartTalk adapter can pickup calls or send the to voice mail or your can use it to play, pause or skip music so you see this little adapter can change your life like the iPhone did once.

Go check out the SmartTalk iPhone Headphone/Mic Adapter and see how you can enjoy your iPhone even more.

iPhone broke :(

author Posted by: George on date Sep 24th, 2009 | filed Filed under: iPhone / iPod Touch

Yesterday my iPhone 3G started to have fun on it’s own. I got a text message and tried to read it but it just made screen shots every time I pressed the home button another screenshot.

And as most of us know you make a screen shot by holding the power button and pressing the home key. So guess what happened to my iPhone 3G, yes the power button got stuck. I noticed for a couple of months now that the buttons was a bit crooked but didn’t think to much of it. After a while I got the button unstuck but I need my phone so I decided to go visit the Apple store.

To see a genius you need to have an appointment but there is a standby list that you can be put on but you can’t leave the store and you don’t know how long you have to wait.

After just over 30 minutes and my name was called. The gentleman that helped me was very helpfull after a couple of minutes he decided to swap my phone.

They had the phone in stock and he did the sim card transfer and of I went. This of course now left me with and empty iPhone with not even a contact in it. And the SMS I got in the morning was gone to so. Of to home where I plugged my it in to itunes and was asked if I would like to restore or setup a new iphone I tried the restore but that did not work because the firmware of the new iPhone 3G was older then the backup. So first I needed to do the update. I did and then I wanted to get my phone restored but how do you do that?

I checked all the menu’s but didn’t find anything and then after a while I found it just click right on you iphone icon in Itunes and there it is 🙂

It takes a long time to get your backup restored but I even got a phone call in the middle so that was nice that that still works.

So now I am happy with my new phone thanks for the great service of Apple. I was supriced that they didn’t send me back to the store where I bought the phone. Next time my phone breaks (if ever) i will be at the Apple store 🙂
