Yes when the new operating system for the iPhone came out I wanted it even though I have an iPhone 3G.
folders that was what I thought something I needed and the update of mail was something I also excited about.

But after I got IOS 4 my phone got so slow that I regretted using it at all. I use notes a lot for work and that was so slow that I started to use paper again.

But then I found this little Youtube video:

and so I decided to give it a try.

First I would say if you want to do this yourself of course look at the video but also read this article at Lifehacker.

The downgrade is pretty simple and go’s a lot quicker then upgrading to IOS 4.

After the downgrade I of course was unlucky and didn’t have a backup of my old stuff in os version 3.1.x any more so my apps where all empty but I expected that so I made sure I copied what I needed before I tried to install anything.

I would say if you iPhone 3G is so slow that you like to trow it agains the wall then go try this yourself. I was ready to buy and iPhone 4 before I did the downgrade but my phone provider charged to much so this works for me right now.

Be aware that you will soon not be able to download lots of new apps any more because most of them are getting ready for IOS 4.

OK so after a long time I finally got myself an Apple TV.

But while I was looking in to buying an Apple TV I got some questions where it was really hard to find answers about so now that I have one and figured things out I thought I should share the information with you.

1. Do files I send from iTunes stay on my computer?

Yes your files need to be staying in your iTunes if you deleted them from iTunes the normal way then they will disappear from your Apple TV as well.

There is a workaround to get the movies on your Apple TV but no longer on your computer. Simply make sure you iTunes is closed and then just deleted the movies from you library files by searching in the iTunes folder. This way iTunes things your movie is on your computer but it really is gone.

2. Can I organize my movies and TV series I put on there myself?

Yes this is pretty easy. First you can in iTunes say that the movie files are TV shows and then you can even give them a season nr. This way all the episodes of a TV show will show up in one lets call it folder.

For movies you can also organize them by kinda of movie like Drama, Comedy and so on.

You can also just move movies in the TV shows folder as i described above.

Organizing this way is pretty easy and handy. You can of course organize things the way you like. For instance I made a TV Show called Fitness and I put all my workout movies under there.

3. Can I make convert my own movies so that they show up on my Apple TV?

Yes you can just download the Handbrake software (witch is Free) and you can very easy convert DVD’s to files for you Apple TV. Not everything will work there are some specially secured DVD’s out there that I was not able to get converted the easy way. Movies I ran in to problems with where. Wal-E, Angels and Daemons and Bedtime stories.

4. The Apple TV does not have any buttons how can I turn it off?

You can’t really turn the Apple TV off. The menu offers a Standby mode but what I read online is that you don’t really turn it off. For instance you will still see it in iTunes.

For me that is not problem because I have all my AV equipment on a switch and when I am done watching everything go’s off.

That is it for now. If you have any questions leave a comment and I will try to answer you questions.

Ready to buy after reading this? Then please use our link to the Apple TV and we get you a great deal.

Apple Store Applications for the iPhone and iPod touch come in different price ranges, but the price does not always determine quality. For instance, the application I’m reviewing here is the best I’ve found in its class and it’s FREE.

ShopShop is, as the name goes, an application that helps you with your shopping. It is an electronic version of a shopping list.

Just add the items you need to the list, and ShopShop will remember the names in a database, so that next time you can select the same items from the database instead of typing their names again. ShopShop also lets you specify a number in front of each item, as in “12 eggs” or “5 apples”. Most times my list just reads “bread, fruits,…” and so on.

The nice thing about ShopShop is that you can cross off what you’ve already picked up. It places a red line through the item, so that you can still see it and uncross it. When you’re all done, you can touch the Clear button on the top left all the red-line items will disappear from your list.

ShopShop also offers the option of making multiple lists. I use it to make lists for different stores, which is very handy. You switch between lists by tapping to the left or to the right of the bottom row of dots (each dot represents one list). Unfortunately you can’t move pages like you can in most other iPhone/iPod touch applications.

Bottom line: ShopShop is a great piece of software for an unbelievable price (FREE!). In my opinion, it’s one of only a few applications that would be worth paying for. It simply does what you need without bombarding you with options. For me this application keeps my shopping lists nicely organized.

ShopShop is a must-have application, so get your copy today before they start charging for it!

Okay, I’m not keeping up with the tech news today, as I’m on holiday in New York City. But I might just have a juicy piece of news.

Rumours have been flying for a while now about AT&T losing its monopoly on the iPhone. Well, I ran into a hint that those rumours are true.

At the Flatiron Building today there was a film crew on the sidewalk. The building houses a Sprint store on the street level, and there was Justin Long (the Mac Guy) being filmed with a Sprint shopping bag. In the bag was a box that looked like the typical black Apple box.

It looked like they were shooting a commercial. I got a photo (but forgot my card reader, rats).

We have to wait and see, but Sprint may start selling the iPhone.

update: It seems like it I was wrong on this one. Some research tells me that this actually was a shoot for the new movie “Going the Distance” with Justin Long and Drew Barrymore.
